Personal Project. 2011 This is one portion of a three part project that depicts a story from the Finnish national epic, The Kalevala. In Runo IX of the Kalevala, the formation of iron on earth is related. The first image is of three godesses letting milk from their breasts. It falls to the earth and soaks into the wetlands. One lets red milk from her breast (iron ore), one black (bar iron), and one pure white (steel). This print is part of a larger project (3 panel sequence) that was printed in 2 colors. |
